Floral Bookmarks

This project aims to explore the transition from a digital project, ‘moving typography,’ to a physical creation. These interactive bookmarks are inspired by the rituals of flower arranging and gifting in daily life, integrating the experience into their design. They allow users to connect with nature through simple interactions while subtly showcasing the respect and love for nature and beauty embodied in the ritual of flower arranging. Each bookmark is shaped like a flower and features Japanese typography. The phrases on each bookmark are common Japanese blessings, combining care, support, and positive wishes for the future. I hope these beautiful blessings can bring others the same energy and healing that comes from the experience of flower arranging.
Through my observations, I discovered that during certain occasions when giving gifts or writing letters. we often use greeting cards or postcards to express our emotions, and these postcards usually include some kind of blessing. Therefore, I believe that combining bookmarks with postcards is the most fitting medium to share the atmosphere of flower arranging and gifting.
